Manama: The Empowering Women Entrepreneurs (EWE) sub-committee of the Indian Ladies Association (ILA) proudly held its inaugural event, ‘An Introduction to Entrepreneurship – 2024,’ at the ILA premises on June 27, 2024.
This ground-breaking event was spearheaded by the dedicated co-coordinators of the sub-committee, Mrs. Smitha Jensen, Mrs. Usha Asher, and Mrs. Vani Chandran, and aimed to equip aspiring women entrepreneurs with essential skills and knowledge. The event was meticulously organized to provide education on skill enhancement, financial literacy, networking, mentorship, and the various support services available from the government of the Kingdom of Bahrain. Esteemed faculty members from the University of Technology Bahrain, including Dr. Nidhi Menon, Dr. Surjith Victor, Dr.Stephen Chellakan, Dr. Reem Abbas, and Dr. SaubhagyalaxmiMisra, addressed several crucial topics such as:
• Basic understanding of launching a business
• Unique challenges faced by women in business
• Fostering a supportive ecosystem for female leaders to thrive and succeed
• Bridging the gender gap in entrepreneurship
• Government support available for women entrepreneurs.The session on consumer engagement by Dr. SaubhagyalaxmiMisra was particularly noteworthy, offering innovative strategies and expert advice that were highly appreciated by the attendees.
Hon. President Kiran Mangle expressed her excitement about the event, saying, “Our commitment to empowering women in business is at the heart of ILA’s mission. This event marks a significant step towards achieving that goal, and we are thrilled with the positive response. Dr. Saubhagyalaxmi’sinsights on consumer engagement were particularly valuable, providing our attendees with practical tools and strategies to apply in their businesses.” The event witnessed a large turnout, with many attendees requesting more comprehensive sessions in the upcoming weeks.
